AM SESSION 1 - Hyperinflation in The Weimar Republic, Zimbabwe and Latin America with David St-Onge

In this workshop, we’re going to analyse and compare two very famous hyperinflation periods that took place almost 90 years apart in the Weimar Republic in the 1920s and in Zimbabwe in 2008. We’ll present the dozens similarities and differences we’ve found between those two hyperinflation episodes and we will present some contemporary parallels we can make with the current inflation situation. As a bonus, we’ll have a look at different currency redenomination events that happened in the Latin Americas in the 80s and 90s. To conclude, we will explore the few exit strategies that countries can try to get out of hyperinflation. The speaker will exhibit his extensive hyperinflated currency bills collection and will even distribute some brand new authentic bills for free.

AM SESSION 2 - Bitcoin 101 with Jesse Berger

An introductory workshop to familiarize participants with key terms and concepts of Bitcoin, which will come in handy throughout the conference. This session will also feature a brief history of Bitcoin for added context.

AM SESSION 3 - Multisig demo with BTC Sessions

Learn how to set up, use, back up and recover a multisig wallet with a variety of devices and interfaces.

PM SESSION 1 - VLS hardware signer with Evan Feenstra

The Bitcoin Lightning Network has seen significant growth in recent years, but with this growth has come increased security concerns. Most Lightning nodes today run in cloud hosted environments, where your private keys are vulnerable to snooping from your hosting provider or DevOps team.

The Sphinx Signer is a piece of hardware that holds your keys securely at home, even when using a cloud-hosted Lighting node. Based on the Validating Lightning Signer project (https://vls.tech), the Signer has a robust set of configurable signing policies, providing full visibility and control over the flow of satoshis through your channels. The Signer also opens up the possibility of multi-signature lighting channels, enabling collaborative custody on Lightning.

In this workshop we will discuss the current landscape and challenges of building self-sovereign products on top of Bitcoin’s Lightning network. We will introduce our hardware solution, and talk about the future of Lighting applications made possible by external signing devices and the VLS project.

PM SESSION 2 - Exploring Nostr with Derek Ross

During this session you will explore Nostr, the decentralized and censorship resistant social protocol that closely resembles Bitcoin and has many Bitcoin integrations. You’ll learn about Nostr, why Nostr matters, and why Nostr as a social protocol that’s closely integrated with Bitcoin will revolutionize not only social communication, but also building a value for value based Bitcoin economy.

Nostr Plebs provides services and solutions for the Nostr protocol and the greater Nostr ecosystem. Nostr Plebs is made by Bitcoiners, for Bitcoiners, providing customers with NIP-05 ID registration and hosting, Nostr Relay access, social audio solutions, Lightning addresses, and other Nostr solutions. I’ll discuss what I learned about building a business on Bitcoin and Nostr and where I see this heading into the future.
